"Texas Exceptionalism" : Exceptional or Not?

There is no denying that Texans are loud and proud.  Just because Texans are so vocal about their state pride, does not make them any more proud than a Mississippian, Nebraskan, Californian, etc.  For the most part, we (Texans), have been labeled as extremists, or flat out obnoxious.  I see no need for the persecution.  There is no harm in loving hard.  If you think about it, for example, what state doesn't love their football team and their beer?  We have America's sweethearts, Wisconsin's got their cheese, and New York has Broadway.  Every state has their symbols or representations that deem them unique.  As long as we are passionate in a positive manner, what's the harm.  I, for one, do not need a bumper sticker, megaphone, or Texas flag to say that I am proud to be a Texan.  To each, their own. http://shenkitup.com/2011/08/06/10-reasons-why-texans-love-texas-2/
